We are excited to announce the champions of the MTE 2025 Paint Correction Competition. This event put the spotlight on the incredible talent and expertise of competitors dedicated to perfecting the art of paint restoration.
Competitors got their own pan to work on, each had a deliberate scuffing followed by an epoxy base to stick the paint. Metaluxe’s classic black was applied and topped it with an Axalta clear coat, bringing each pan to a paint depth of about 4 mils (100 microns).
The surface of each pan had been hand-sanded using 3M 1500-grit sandpaper to create a uniform starting point for correction.
Judging used the Detailometer to score each entry, focusing on Haze, Gloss, DOI (Distinctness of Image), and RIQ (Reflective Image Quality).
Big congrats to the sharp folks who rose to the challenge and stood out in this tough competition. Your skills in bringing those pans back to pristine condition have truly raised the bar in paint correction.
